Getting Line Count (and Length) with JavaScript

JavaScript provides fantastic tools for dealing with HTML element positions, but when it comes to text nodes there are very few options. While determining the length of an individual line of text isn't a herculean task, it does require a little leg work. Because browsers parse the text children of HTML tags as a single text node, in order to calculate positioning within that text we need to split it up.
